Whether you’re looking for freelance work, consultancy, interim cover, or training I can offer support in a wide range of areas including strategic communications, digital project management, website user research, brand development, and copywriting.
I’ve posted my typical day rates here as a guide because when I was working in-house and trying to put together a communications budget I always found it helpful to see a ballpark figure. While the exact rate may vary depending on the complexity and scope of the project, I am not VAT registered so there’s no extra to pay.
Website reviews and content audits
Thinking about redesigning your website? I can review your existing site and provide a report outlining quick wins and longer term improvements. I can also produce a comprehensive content audit - a key part of any website overhaul - mapping and analysing all the content on your existing site, and presenting findings in a practical format for presentations or content migration plans.
£300 - £400 per day
Content strategy, migration and management
With a content strategy you can make sure you’re creating the right content for the right audience, in the right format. Using a user-centred, data-led content design approach, I can help you find the right niche for you and your audience, then put in place the governance and workflows to help keep your content calendar focused and fresh.
£200 - £500 per day
User research and usability testing
User-centred design is the key to creating effective digital tools and services and successful web projects, and it doesn’t have to break the bank. I will work with you (and your budget) to plan, deliver, analyse, and present a programme of user research and testing, drawing on desk-based research, user interviews, card-sorting exercises, and/or observational usability tests.

Communications strategy
Developing your communications strategy doesn’t have to be a painful process. I can work with you and your team to scan your internal and external environment, identify your strategic objectives, discover your key audiences and messages, map out your tactics, evaluate and learn from your previous work.

Tone of voice and key messages
How does your brand sound and what does it say? If it’s more of a cacophony than a chorus it might be time to tighten things up. I’ve worked with many organisations to identify and refine their key messages and tone of voice and I can help you too.

Copywriting and editing
I’m a versatile copywriter with special expertise in writing accessible, engaging, search-friendly website copy and compelling key messages. I’m also a confident editor with a knack for making dense, dry documents sparkle.

Training and workshop facilitation
I’ve delivered popular training on digital project management for charities, writing for the web, and a range of other subjects. I can work with you to develop a bespoke training session tailored for your team. I’m also an experienced workshop facilitator, so if your team away day or strategy session could benefit from an inclusive, practical and positive external facilitator please get in touch.
£60 per hour, minimum 2 hours
Project management and interim cover
If you need a senior manager or team leader to provide interim cover in communications, content, or digital, or you have a communications project that needs a steady hand, I can work in-house with you on a part-time basis for up to three months.
£40k - £50k FTE
