Helping film researchers find the content they want
In 2016 and 2017 I worked with Learning On Screen (formerly the British Universities Film & Video Council) to review their existing online offering.
Initially I carried out a content audit of their large, complex website, produced a set of sketch user personas, and mapped out their common user journeys.
I worked with Learning On Screen again to research their user needs ahead of a major website redesign. My content audit revealed a huge range of content types which needed to be organised into a more intuitive site architecture, so I ran a card sorting exercise with end users and then with staff and trustees, both of which delivered some great insights.
I also carried out desk based research drawing on visitor feedback and site analytics, conducted some observational user testing on Learning On Screen’s existing site, and presented the research results to senior staff and trustees.
Finally, I drew up a list of recommendations drawn from the research and sketched a basic information architecture which informed the design of the organisation’s new website.
